My Computer Manager is an application that gives you access to chosen files or folders directly from My Computer or Control Panel by creating shortcuts to them. I have to confess that it took me a while to figure out the purpose of this application. The accompanying HTML help documentation (although quite explicit in terms of procedures) did not give me a single clue of what this program was about. The developer’s description did not help much either as it is badly explained. Finally, I managed to understand what they really meant by means of trying the program.
The reason is that it is impossible to create any shortcuts to other elements in My Computer and Control Panel folders using standard system procedures. Some people might find it useful to be able to access their favorite applications or folders from there. Once you perceive the purpose, the rest becomes clear and you will hardly need any help to use the program. The interface is quite simple, with four large buttons that will perform most of the tasks, namely: adding a file, adding a folder, editing the added items and erasing them. In addition, this program integrates with Windows Explorer and works from the right-click menu.
In general, I still cannot find a real use for this application. In my opinion, adding extra elements to My Computer and Control Panel will just complicate the system unnecessarily. However, if you are fond of customizing your PC or you have ever wanted to access a given element from My Computer, you should definitely give this program a try.
